Diane served as a photographer at the Field Museum from 1983 up until 2022. In addition to photographing natural history collections, Diane created three photography exhibits showcasing the extensive Native American collection of artifacts. The exhibits called, "With Patience and Good Will: The Art of the Arapaho," "Cheyenne Visions" and "Travels of the Crow: Journey of an Indian Nation", traveled to museums and tribal lands of the Plains Indians. Funding was granted by NAGPRA, The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
A friendship began between Bob Spoonhunter who was an Arapaho cultural advisor and myself when we collaborated on a photography exhibit, called, With Patience and Good Will: The Art of the Arapaho, 1996-2000.
Anthropology Curator, Jonathan Haas and Bob pulled the artifacts from the Anthropology Collections Storage and brought them in the studio where I photographed the objects on a variety of colored backdrops and used dramatic lighting to highlight the details with a large format 4x5 film camera.
