The year of 1981 was a city wide celebration of ethnic festivals in Chicago. The Polish Fest was held on June 6th in Hansen Park located in the Belmont Craigin neighborhood. The Solidarity Movement led by Lech Walesa was solidly backed by Pope John Paul ll and can be seen on tee shirts and photos for sale by the vendors. Another prominent Pole seen in Frame 26 is Alderman Roman Pucinski who served his constituents in the 41st Ward. One of the acts on the second stage was the famous accordionist Vlasta and Her Altar Boys as seen in Frames 33, 34 and 35. On the main stage was Bobby Vinton and the fans waited patiently for hours in the open sun. One of my favorites is Frame 04 of the three women drinking cans of Fanta. They definitly look related!
