1981 ITALIAN FEST AT RIIS PARK ON
In 1981 the City of Chicago launched Festivals in the Park reflecting the ethnicity of the city. The Italian Fest featured food, vendors and entertainment from Italian ice, sausage, tee shirts and headliner Tony Bennett. Look deep within the photos to see what the 1980s looked like in style of clothing and swagger. See if you can find the older woman in pin curls a popular way of setting you hair. The kids on bikes obliged me first for a group photo and then launching themselves on a small sand hill. Forget the cell phones, people had fun with the simple things in life. Enjoy!
