WAYLON JENNINGS, ROCKFORD SPEEDWAY JUNE 1978_13

WAYLON JENNINGS, ROCKFORD SPEEDWAY JUNE 1978_13

We traveled from Chicago with Marian, Mary Anne, Frank and myself to the Waylon Jennings Jamboree in Rockford Speedway on June 4th, 1978.
What you see are black and white prints but in reality everyone is sunburned and burnt to a crisp. The day long Waylon Jamboree started at noon with Heartsfield and Jessi Colter, Pure Prairie League, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Hank Williams Jr. and finally with Waylon Jennings. The bleachers filled up quickly and according to the article here, there were 16,000 people which is way underestimated. Looked more like 40,000 from the looks of my photos. Whatever the case the beer line were extremely long because people ordered buckets of beer. Image how much time it took to fill a bucket up that can been seen in #11. Frank White and I can be seen in #4 & 5, Marian in 13, 14 and more, Margo in #17, 29, 30, 31 and more.
