"The Motels, a new wave band, performed at the Park West in Chicago on July 23, 1982. Lead singer Martha Davis was known to sing from the balcony during their shows at the venue."
The reason that I wanted to see The Motels was because the song, Suddenly Last Summer was played over and over on the radio as was another hit song called, Only the Lonely. A friend from UIC by the name of Sophia Anastos and I went together where we sat on the main floor and I managed to stand in front of the band and capture a total of eightframes. Today, access belongs to the press and photographers with a press pass. The other half of the roll was used to photograph the Air and Water Show in the same year. Reading the wikipedia about Martha Davis was sad because she has definitely lived a rough existence but in spite of that, did it her way. A young mother at 15, married at 17 to a soldier who fought in Viet Nam who was loving husband, in face he had a violent streak and they were divorced after she gave birth to their second daughter. Her mother committed suicide shortly afterward and her father also passed soon after her mother's death.
