2023_GAY PRIDE PARADE CHICAGO (10)

2023_GAY PRIDE PARADE CHICAGO (10)

Here is an overview of photos of the Chicago Police Department at events throughout the city of Chicago between 1974 through 2009. The photos include the police department protecting the public at parades, festivals and protests. In the early photographs the police are not wearing bullet proof vests as they are in later photos. In some of the photos they are featured prominently and in others they are in the periphery of the photo. The photo that I find the most interesting is where the police share a park bench with young men at the ROLL 2_FIESTA DEL SOL,1981_31. The same group of policemen can be seen in ROLL 2_FIESTA DEL SOL,1981_10. Also featured is Officer Stollard who was a policeman at Bowen High School in South Chicago when I was a student in the 1970s. He was just as friendly on the streets of downtown in the photo at the SANTA'S FANTASY PARADE 1981_12 as he was patrolling the halls of Bowen HS. Another standout is the photo of policewomen wearing mini-skirts in CHINESE NEW YEAR 1975_20. It was a freezing cold day and that didn't hinder their uniform of short skirts and high heels. Times certainly have changed. This compilation of photos is derived from albums within my website. Feel free to peruse more from those way back machines!
