MITCHELL WI, GREAT AMERICA 1980 FLW DAW_13
As of 2026 when I scanned these photos, Great America turned 50 years old! Frank and I went up to Milwaukee and visited the Mitchell Park Domes Horticulture Conservatory, a botanic experience that we have visited many times on our way back down to Illinois. The photos were shot in Kodachrome film which yields the bright colors that Paul Simon describes in his Kodachrome song and that my father also used in his family pics. We stopped at the Six Flags Great America theme park and enjoyed the fast and furious rides that include the Tidal Wave that is no longer. My favorite pic is of the guy with the giant stuffed animal aloft on his shoulders. Good luck on a hot summer day LOL. Wheeeee!
