It was a hot summer evening to see Elvis Costello and the Attractions at Alpine valley in 1980. To travel up to Alpine Valley took about an hour from the Wrigley Field neighborhood where I lived with my co-worker Mark Swanson, his friend who I don't remember the name of and my boyfriend at the time soon to be my husband in 1983, Frank White. You would think that we would be smart enough not to drink and drive but that was not the case since Mark and his friend had a full cooler of Margaritas that we were all chugging down on the way up to Alpine Valley in Wisconsin. Needless to say, we were hammered. We did not have pavilion seating, and we sat on the grass as you can see in photo number 4 of me with the Mark and friend photographed by Frank. Photos one and three are of two fans wearing their Elvis Costello t-shirts. One has the imperial bedroom album cover and the other one was a concert tee. Getting a chuckle out of Frank White in his oversized eyeglasses holding a lighter as if to say more, more, encore, encore. Most of the photos of the attractions and Elvis Costello out of focus but you can see which ones are in in focus by clicking on the photo. The way home was exhausting as you can imagine after partying our brains out on the way up, at the concert and now it's the long haul home. If I remember correctly, we stopped at the bar right outside of Alpine valley Elkhart that is heavily populated by the concert goers that were chugging down last call beers and polish hot dogs. Good times baby!
