Photographing the one day 1981 Fiesta del Sol in Pilsen was a eye popping experience. Everywhere I looked there was a photo begging to be frozen in time. This modest version in 1981 was held on a dusty Chicago Park District called Harrison Park with baseball fields that held stages for the various entertainers that included Ensemble Espanol, the Roberto Clemente Steel Band, The Puppet Place and headliner Vickie Carr. Vendors sold food from wheeled carts throughout the festival. Cops minus their bullet proof vests shared park benches with young men.
