1974 West Ridge, Downtown, South Shore, Schlitz Circus Wagon at Columbus Day Parade, Selfies, CTA, Weed Plant
While in college at UIC as a photography student I photographed whatever caught my interest with the Kodak Reflex Retina 111c camera that was my constant companion on the streets of Chicago. The photos on 79th Street near South Shore Drive are the last photos taken while I was a resident with my family till our move to West Ridge in Chicago in 1974 and reflects the transition as an overlap in the roll of 36 exposures. The Schlitz Circus Wagon was on view after the Columbus Day Parade on Columbus Drive with unlimited access. The street views from 1974 are barely recognizable due to redevelopment of Chicago.
While living with my parents I grew a marijuana plant and asked the two children to come upstairs so I could capture a photo of them with the plant. The photos of the Name of the Game Lounge, grocery store and Thunderbird Motel on South Shore Drive are among my favorites. Selfies in the bathroom mirror can be seen in #18 and #19.
