NHM Storytelling in Cloth and Light Diane Alexander White at The National Hellenic Museum, 2022+
The exhibit called, Story Telling in Cloth and Light is a permanent exhibit that combines photography with the textile collection at the National Hellenic Museum in Chicago. While backpacking through Italy, Greece and Egypt as a 22 year old Greek American I photographed the people and landscapes as I traveled from Corfu to Crete. With black and white film, color print film and color slide film my camera captured a Greece that was quickly fleeting and modernizing before my very eyes. Backpackers like myself were willing to sleep on ferry decks, beaches, caves, cheap pensiones while enjoying the beauty of Greece on a few bucks a day in the pre-EU time period.
