BUD BILLIKEN DAY PARADE 1981 ROLL 1_35

BUD BILLIKEN DAY PARADE 1981 ROLL 1_35

1981 BUD BILLIKEN DAY PARADE - ROLLS 1,2,3In 1981 a plethora of ethnic and cultural events took place in neighborhoods parks, and in downtown Chicago. The list was vast and I made it my mission to cover as many of the cultural offerings and parades throughout the year. The Bud Billiken Day Parade is the largest Black parade held on the second Saturday in August since 1929. Onlookers cheer their family and friends on floats, in marching bands and while politicians were far and few between. Take a moment to immerse yourself in the sounds and sights of this amazing display of diy energy and joy. For more information please click here.
